Writing Coach
My Approach to Teaching Writing
Where words meet body, memory, and performance
I teach writing as an embodied practice—a way to connect not only with your mind but also with your body, your creativity, and the living stories that shape our worlds. My work draws on the principles of embodied learning, storytelling, and performance-making, using creative processes that help writers find their voice and deepen their relationship to their craft. My research and creative practice have always been rooted in gender studies, African performance traditions, and arts-based pedagogy. I believe writing is not just a skill but a space for transformation—a place where memory, identity, and imagination intersect. Whether working with emerging writers, experienced academics, or teachers wanting to bring creative practice into their classrooms, my focus is on helping each person write from a place of authenticity, depth, and courage.
Writing as Creative and Reflective Practice
I work with writing as a form of:
-
Creative exploration – generating new ideas, worlds, and perspectives.
-
Reflective inquiry – using writing to clarify thought, deepen insight, and process complex experiences.
-
Story-based pedagogy – integrating narrative and performance to make writing come alive.
-
Embodied knowing – using movement, memory, and sensory awareness to unlock expression.
My approach draws inspiration from African storytelling traditions, feminist theory, and theatre-making methods to create dynamic, holistic writing processes.
